01Purpose
Law should be read, understood and known by the people it governs; it is not meant to be sold. Luật Meta aims to let anyone find the right document, read the right article and see whether it is still in force, or which document amended or replaced it, without signing up or installing anything.
The site favours speed, readable type and a compact layout. Everything needed for a lookup is on the page.
02Completely free
Luật Meta charges nothing and shows no ads. Knowing whether a document is still in force, or which document amended or replaced it, is a basic right to know; making people pay for that makes no sense.
03What each document includes
Basic information: type, number, issuing body, date issued, date in force and legal status.
Full text divided into chapters, sections, articles, clauses and points, with a table of contents to jump to the right place. Each article has its own link for citing or sharing.
A list of related documents: those that amend, replace or implement it, and those it refers to, once confirmed.
04Searching quickly
Type a title, a number or a piece of text. You do not need to type Vietnamese accents.
Put a phrase in quotation marks to match it exactly, and put a minus sign before a word to exclude it.
Use the filters to narrow by document type, year or legal status.
05How the data is controlled
Data is gathered from officially published sources, normalised and checked automatically before it is published. The site shows legal content only; links, addresses and any information that is not part of a document are removed.
Data is updated regularly to reflect new documents and changes in legal force.
06Privacy and downloads
The site needs no account, uses no cookies, does not track readers and loads nothing from other sites.
Downloading documents is not supported. Downloading and storing files by yourself is an ad hoc, scattered and unsystematic habit, not what is encouraged in the age of digital data. The goal of Luật Meta is online lookup anytime, anywhere; an organised offline lookup app will be released later.
07Project status and notes
This website is under construction and not yet officially released. Data is still being added; some documents have basic information without full text, and legal status or relations between documents may be incomplete.
